TEMPOMAT system
This system keeps the vehicle speed constant.
Use TEMPOMAT only if you can drive at a constant speed for a long time. You can memorize any driving speed above 30 km/h.
Attention: TEMPOMAT is only an aid to make driving easier for you. Responsibility for the speed of movement and timely braking always lies with you. On a slippery road, do not turn on the TEMPOMAT. There is a danger of the car skidding. The system regulates the speed of the car without taking into account road and weather conditions. The wheels may spin, causing the vehicle to skid. Switch off the system when it is icy or foggy.
The TEMPOMAT switch lever is the uppermost lever on the left side of the steering column.
TEMPOMAT activation
The system is activated by pressing the switch lever in direction 6. When the system is activated, the LIM indicator light (3), located on the switch lever is off.

Entering the actual speed into memory
Accelerate the vehicle to the desired speed.
Briefly press the TEMPOMAT switch lever up (arrow 1) or down (arrow 4), The reached speed will be memorized.
Release the accelerator pedal. At the same time, TEMPOMAT is activated.
When driving uphill or downhill, it is possible that Tempomat cannot maintain speed. If the climb or slope ends, the memorized speed is set again.
Switching off TEMPOMAT
To turn off the system, do one of the following: you have several options for turning off: brake, depress the accelerator pedal or briefly press the TEMPOMAT switch lever in the direction of arrow 5. After that, TEMPOMAT will be turned off. The last set speed will remain in memory.
The last recorded speed is erased if you turn off the engine.
Speed setting
Briefly press the TEMPOMAT switch lever in the direction of arrow 2. In this case, TEMPOMAT sets the last memorized speed. Release the accelerator pedal.
Setting a higher speed
Briefly press the TEMPOMAT switch lever in the direction of arrow 1 and keep it pressed until you have reached the desired speed.
Release the TEMPOMAT switch lever. The new speed value has been stored in memory.
If you accelerate the vehicle using the TEMPOMAT switch lever, the speed is memorized when the TEMPOMAT switch lever is released.
Attention: it is not possible to turn off the TEMPOMAT by pressing the accelerator pedal. If you accelerate for a short time to overtake, then the TEMPOMAT will then reset to the last recorded speed.
Setting a lower speed
Press the TEMPOMAT switch lever in the direction of arrow 4 and keep it pressed until you have reached the desired speed.
Release the TEMPOMAT switch lever. The new speed will be stored in memory.
If you slow down the vehicle using the TEMPOMAT switch lever, the speed is memorized when the TEMPOMAT switch lever is released.
In vehicles with automatic transmission, when decelerating significantly using the TEMPOMAT switch lever (by pressing in the direction of the arrow 4) The automatic transmission shifts to a lower gear.
Precise setting in steps of 1 km/h
To accelerate, press the TEMPOMAT switch lever in the direction of arrow 1.
To slow down, press the TEMPOMAT switch lever in the direction of arrow 4.
The last recorded speed is erased if you turn off the engine.
Momentary increase in speed
When the TEMPOMAT system is activated, the vehicle can be accelerated for a short time. After releasing the accelerator pedal, the recorded speed is set again.
Improving the ease of control of the gearbox
Depress the accelerator pedal lightly if you engage the clutch.
At the same time, the convenience of controlling the gearbox is increased.
If you release the accelerator pedal again, the recorded speed is set again.
If the shift lever is in neutral after you have disengaged the clutch, the engine speed may increase momentarily.
SPEEDTRONIC system
SPEEDTRONIC ensures that the set speed is not exceeded.
Speed can be limited in two ways:
- variable limit - to limit the speed, for example in built-up areas;
- permanent limitation - for a long-term speed limit, for example for operation in winter.
The speed displayed on the speedometer may differ slightly from the set speed.
You can change the speed unit using the control system.
The SPEEDTRONIC switch lever is the uppermost lever on the left side of the steering wheel.

Switching between variable speed limiter SPEEDTRONIC and TEMPOMAT
Switching is carried out by pressing the switch lever in the direction of the arrow b. If the LIM indicator light (3) does not light up, it means that the TEMPOMAT system is activated, if it lights up, the SPEEDTRONIC system is activated, and the set speed limit will be displayed on the display of the instrument cluster.
Attention: you cannot switch off the SPEEDTRONIC by braking. Use SPEEDTRONIC only if you are sure that you will not suddenly have to go faster than the speed limit allowed.
Attention: the set speed limit can be exceeded if the accelerator pedal is depressed beyond the point of resistance (as in the implementation of the kick-down mode for cars with automatic transmission). When changing drivers, pay attention to the set speed.
Saving the current speed limit
Briefly press the switch lever up (direction 1, fig. 52). In this case, the indicated speed is stored with rounding up to the value of the next higher ten.
By briefly pressing the switch lever (direction 4) the indicated speed is stored rounded down to the next lower ten.
On descents, despite the limiter, speed may be exceeded.
In this case, an audible signal sounds and the value of the set speed flashes on the display in the instrument cluster.
In this case, if necessary, brake yourself.
Calling up the memorized speed limit display
Briefly press the switch lever in the direction of arrow 2.
If the vehicle speed exceeds the last memorized limit by no more than 30 km/h, the limiter sets this memorized speed again.
Fine adjustment is made in steps of 10 km/h.
Setting a Higher Speed Limit
It is done by briefly pressing the switch lever in the direction of arrow 1 or by holding the lever down until the desired speed is reached.
Setting a lower speed limit
It is done by briefly pressing the switch lever in the direction of arrow 4 or by holding the lever down until the desired speed is reached.

Setting a Higher Speed Limit
It is done by briefly pressing the TEMPOMAT switch lever in the direction of the arrow or by holding the lever pressed until the desired speed is reached.
Switching off the variable speed limiter SPEEDTRONIC
To switch off the SPEEDTRONIC system, do one of the following: briefly press the switch lever in the direction of arrow 5 (the speed limiter will be turned off) or by pressing the switch lever in the direction of arrow 6, switch the system to the TEMPOMAT mode.
The system will also deactivate when the accelerator pedal is pressed past the point of resistance if the vehicle speed is at least 20 km/h below the set speed.

Permanent speed limiting by SPEEDTRONIC
With the help of the control system, you can set a constant speed limit value in the range of 160 km/h (e.g. for driving a car with tires with a winter tread pattern) up to maximum speed.
Attention: in this case, you will not be able to exceed the set speed limit, even if you press the accelerator pedal beyond the point of resistance (kickdown).
Shortly before the set speed is reached, its value is shown on the multifunction display.
The permanent speed limiter SPEEDTRONIC remains active even when the variable speed limiter is switched off.
Setting a permanent speed limit SPEEDTRONIC
Turn the ignition key to position 1 or 2.
Press the or button until the EINSTELLUNGEN·menu appears on the display (installations).
Press the or button until the FAHRZEUG submenu is highlighted (automobile).
Press the or button until the GESCHW menu appears on the display. BEGRENZUNG (WINTERREIFEN) (Speed Limit (tires with winter tread pattern). The light strip is on the operating installation.
Use the or buttons to select the desired limit value.

In doing so, you can choose between the following options:
- AUS (OFF), permanent speed limiter SPEEDTRONIC off;
- 160 km/h;
- 190 km/h;
- 210 km/h;
- 240 km/h
