The program switch is located in the middle of the instrument panel.
- Economy mode (Economy) - the switch is in the middle position. Applies to all normal road conditions.
- Load mode (Power) - the switch must be pressed from above (control LED is on). It is used for driving under difficult conditions, for example, when the car is fully loaded, when driving with a trailer or on steep slopes. Upshifts and downshifts are performed at higher travel speeds and engine speeds than in «Economy».
- Winter mode (Winter) - the switch must be pressed from below (control LED is on). It is used for driving in winter conditions, for example, for starting off on a slippery road. The vehicle starts off in 2nd gear.
The shifting characteristics of the gearbox can be varied by using the accelerator pedal:
- Light load: early upshift, low acceleration.
- Heavy load: late upshifts, strong acceleration.
- "kickdown" (it is necessary to press the accelerator pedal to the stop to overcome the position of full load): downshift back if the driving speed is below the maximum speed of the next downshift, downshift at rated engine speed, maximum acceleration.
Control lamp of an automatic transmission
When the ignition key is turned to position 2, the automatic transmission warning lamp lights up. It should go out after about 2 seconds. Flashing while driving indicates an increased transmission oil temperature. It is necessary to downshift or stop driving and, with the engine running, allow the gearbox to cool in position N or P.
If the warning lamp comes on while driving, it indicates a malfunction of the automatic transmission system. The gearbox shifts to 4th gear. All positions of the automatic transmission control lever and beyond can be set. In positions D, 3, 2 and 1, however, the vehicle can only be driven in 4th gear. After turning off the engine and restarting in case of a malfunction, the movement of the car in positions D, 3, 2 and 1 is possible only in 3rd gear.
