The ABS system prevents the wheels from locking up when braking, regardless of tire grip. The vehicle remains steerable even with full braking. A slight vibration of the steering wheel and a pulsation of the brake pedal when braking indicate the transition to control with the help of the ABS system. When the ignition key is turned to position 2, the ABS warning lamp on the instrument panel lights up. It goes out after about 2 seconds. Lighting up while driving indicates a malfunction in the ABS system.
