Individual gears are engaged automatically depending on the position of the gear selector lever, the position of the program switch, the speed of movement, the position of the accelerator pedal.
With the help of the automatic transmission selector lever and the program switch, the automatic shifting process can be adapted to the operating conditions.
Automatic transmission selector lever positions
Position "R"
Parking block.
Select only when car is parked (before setting the selector lever to position P, you must apply the parking brake). The gearbox is automatically locked to prevent the vehicle from rolling.
Attention! The automatic transmission selector lever can only be moved to position P when the key in the ignition switch is turned to position 2 and the service brake is applied. The key can only be removed from the ignition lock if the automatic transmission selector lever is in position P.
Position "R" Reverse gear
Select only when the vehicle is parked and the engine is idling.
Position "N" neutral position
In this position, there is no transmission of torque from the engine to the drive axle. When the brakes are released, the car moves freely. Select only when the vehicle is at a complete stop, unless the vehicle is slipping or in danger of skidding.
Position "D"
Upshifting up to 4th gear. For all normal road driving conditions.
Position "3". This position is used to generate additional power when driving downhill with a moderate incline and for engine braking when driving downhill with a moderate incline.
Position "2".For driving on average rises and descents. The braking action of the engine can be used up to the maximum engine speed allowed in 2nd gear.
Position "1".This position is used when driving downhill on a steep slope or for engine braking at low speed while descending a hill.
Attention! This position can be used for maximum engine braking. Avoid sudden shifting into gear 1. Sudden engine braking can cause a skid. Engage this position according to road conditions and vehicle speed.
