Service brake system
When you turn the key in the ignition switch to position 2, the brake indicator light on the instrument panel comes on. It should go out when the engine is running. When it lights up while driving, it indicates that the brake fluid level has dropped below the norm and/or the brake linings are at their maximum wear limit.
Foot operated parking brake (left hand drive vehicles)
1. Parking brake pedal,
2. Parking brake release handle.
- To turn on, press the pedal (only when the car is parked). When the ignition key is turned to position 2, the parking brake indicator light on the instrument panel comes on.
- Release - pull the handle, the parking brake system is released instantly. The car can start moving immediately.
Hand parking brake (car with right-hand steering)
The handbrake lever is located between the driver and front passenger seats.
- "Tightening" - the lever must be "tightened" until the last click of the lock. When the ignition key is turned to position 2, the parking brake indicator lamp on the instrument panel lights up.
- "Release" - the lever must be pulled slightly, the button on the lever must be pressed and the lever must be lowered down until it stops.
Attention! On long and steep descents, relieve the brakes by using the engine braking action; to do this, engage a lower gear.
If you have been driving for a long time without braking in heavy rain, there may be some delay when you first brake and you will have to press your foot harder on the brake. Therefore, from time to time, lightly press the service brake pedal while maintaining a safe distance from the vehicles in front. To prevent corrosion after driving on wet roads, especially if they have been sprayed with de-icing agent, press the brakes hard before parking the vehicle. Heating dries the brake discs.
