- place the front of the car on supports;
- turn the front wheel on the desired side;
- push the brake pads away from the disc. If necessary, unscrew the caliper so that they can move freely;
Figure 212. Removing the hub seal cover: 1 - front wheel hub; 2 — hub seal cover remover; 3 - hub cap
- remove the hub cap. For this purpose, the puller shown in the figure is usually used 212;
Figure 213. Adjusting the wheel bearing: 1 - front wheel hub; 2 - locking clamp; 3 — axis; 4 - adjusting washer
- according to the drawing 213 Loosen the Allen bolt of the locking clamp 2 and, while simultaneously turning the hub, move the clamp until it can be turned freely;
- then unscrew the locking clamp bolt again by 1/3 of a turn. By hitting the end of the axle 3 with a plastic hammer, loosen the force between the parts;
Figure 214. Measuring the axial play of the front hub: 1 — hub; 2 — rod holder; 3 - control device
- install control device 3 (figure 214) with magnetic rod holder 2 on hub 1 and press it by about 2 mm;
- measure the axial clearance of the hub. Rotate the hub before each measurement, but not during the measurement. The clearance should be between 0.2 and 0.4 mm;
- tighten the locking clamp bolt with a hex key to a torque of 10-16 N·m and measure the hub bearing play again. The clearance is set correctly if the washer located between the outer bearing and the clamp can be turned with a slight effort;
- apply grease to the hub cap and press in;
- install the wheel and lower the car. Tighten the wheel mounting bolts to a torque of 160–180 N·m.
