- according to fig. 213 Loosen the hexagon socket head bolt of the locking clip 2 and, while turning the hub, move the clip until it turns freely;
- then loosen the retaining clip bolt 1/3 turn again. By hitting the end of axis 3 with a plastic hammer, loosen the force between the parts;
Pic. 214. Measurement of the axial play of the front hub: 1 - hub; 2 - rod holder; 3 - control device
- install control device 3 (pic. 214) with magnetic stem holder 2 on hub 1 and tighten by approx. 2 mm;
- measure the axial play of the hub. Rotate the hub before each measurement, but not during the measurement. The backlash should be in the range from 0.2 to 0.4 mm;
- tighten the locking clamp bolt with a hexagon wrench to 10-16 Nm and measure the hub bearing play again. The play is set correctly if the washer located between the outer bearing and the clamp can be turned with little effort;
- apply grease to the hub cap and press it in;
- install the wheel and lower the car. Tighten the wheel bolts to 160-180 Nm.
