Electronic Control Unit (ECU) (Mercedes-Benz Vito W639)

0
The CDI control unit (N3/9) controls the following functions.
  • Fuel supply.
  • Control of glow plugs when starting the engine and while driving.
  • Controlling the amount of fuel supplied when starting the engine and while driving.
  • Management of emissions of harmful substances.
  • Boost pressure control.
  • Control of compressor stop (A9) of air conditioner (in various operating modes to preserve the battery)
  • Engine stop control.
  • System diagnostics according to EOBD 2 standard

The control unit controls the following elements of the system.
  • Starter relay (K40/9k5).
  • Fuel pump relay (K40/9k6).
  • Fuel injection pump (M41).
  • Output stage for glow plug control (N14/2).
  • Heating element ventilation line (R39/1).
  • Exhaust gas recirculation actuator (Y27) for engines with codes MF4 and MF8.
  • Converter of the boost pressure control system (Y31/5).
  • Fuel pressure control valve (Y74).
  • Fuel injector 1st cylinder (Y76y1).
  • Fuel injector 2nd cylinder (Y76y2)
  • Fuel injector 3rd cylinder (Y76y3)
  • Fuel injector 4th cylinder (Y76y4)
  • Air supply system shut-off valve (Y83), for engines with code MF4.
  • Fuel quantity control valve (Y94).

During system operation, the control unit receives information from the following system elements.
  • Air flow sensor (by mass) (B2/5) for engines with code MF4.
  • Fuel pressure sensor in the high pressure fuel pump (B4/6).
  • Boost pressure sensor (B5/1).
  • Camshaft position sensor (B6/1).
  • -Coolant temperature sensor (B11/4).
  • Charge air temperature sensor (B17/9).
  • Air filter outlet pressure sensor (828/5).
  • Accelerator pedal sensor (B37/3).
  • Universal oil condition sensor (B40).
  • Fuel temperature sensor (B50).
  • Fuel filter water level sensor (B76) for engines with code KL5 (fuel filter with moisture separator).
  • Oxygen sensor (02) TWC (CAT) (G3/2) for engines with code MF4.
  • Crankshaft position sensor (L5).
  • Clutch pedal position switch sensor (S40/3) for vehicles with manual transmission 716.6.

The CAN C multiplex network enables communication between the CDI unit (N3/9) and the following systems and their components.

  • Instrument cluster (A1).
  • SRS airbag control unit (N₂ /10).
  • eTC system control unit (EGS) (N15/3) for vehicles with automatic transmission 722.6.
  • Electronic gear selector control unit (N15/5) for vehicles with automatic transmission 722.6
  • ESP traction control unit (N30/4).
  • Air conditioning system control unit EIS (EZS) (N73).

The CDI ECU input/output signal validity monitoring systems (N3/9) generate replacement signals in emergency mode if any signal is not received due to unreliability.
