Fuel temperature sensor (B50) (Mercedes-Benz Vito W639)

Purpose

The fuel temperature sensor (B50) is located in the high-pressure fuel pump (M41). If the fuel temperature is too high, the pressure in the high-pressure fuel pump decreases. This reduces the amount of fuel passing through the injection pump pressure control valve (Y74) and, accordingly, reduces the fuel temperature.

Design

The B50 fuel temperature sensor is designed around a negative temperature coefficient resistor.

Functioning

The resistance of a resistor with a negative temperature coefficient of resistance is inversely proportional to temperature.
