VN 9.020 1. Incoming air mass sensor B2/5
Purpose
The incoming air mass and temperature sensor is designed to send a signal to the engine control unit about the quantity and temperature of incoming air.

VN 9.021 Incoming Air Mass Sensor: 1. Heated Film Type Sensor; 2. Measuring channel; 3. Protective net; 4. Body; 5. Electronic circuit housing; 6. Electrical connector; 7. Inlet air temperature sensor B2/5b1; 8. Incoming air mass sensor B2/5
Functioning
The electronic circuit in the inlet air mass sensor controls the temperature of the heating resistor RH, which is 160°C higher than the inlet air temperature measured by the thermistor RL. The temperature of the heating resistor RH is measured by the measuring resistor RS. If the temperature changes due to a change in the mass of the passing air, the electronic circuit 5 regulates the voltage supplying the heating resistor RH in such a way as to compensate for the change in its temperature. This compensating voltage is used to transmit to the engine control unit as a sensor signal.
