Removal



1. Remove injectors Y20, Y21, Y22, Y23 (see figure 5.20).

2. Remove the cylinder head cover 4.

3. Set the piston of the first cylinder to the TDC position.

4. Lock the flywheel with the lock.

5. Lock the intake camshaft 2. Insert pin 3 through the hole in the first camshaft bearing cap into hole A in the intake camshaft pulley 5.

6. Remove the timing chain tensioner 10.

7. Remove the front cylinder head cover, upper sliding arm.

8. Mark the position of the intake camshaft pulley 5 relative to the timing chain.

9. Unscrew the exhaust camshaft pulley 6.

10. Unscrew the bolts securing the 8 camshaft bearing caps. First, unscrew the bolts securing the covers 1, 3, 5, 6, 8 and 10 (arrows) (see figure 5.21). Then loosen the cover mounting bolts 2, 4, 7 and 9 (arrows) (see figure 5.22). Remove the camshaft bearing caps (arrows).

11. Remove camshafts 2 and 1.

Installation



12. Install camshafts 2 and 1 so that the two holes B on pulleys 5 and 6 are located opposite each other, and the marks on camshafts 2 and 1 (arrows) and on bearing caps 8 are aligned.

13. Remove the camshaft retainer.

14. Set the piston of the first cylinder to the position 30° before TDC. The marks on the bearing cover 8 (arrows) must align.

15. Install bearing caps 8 in the reverse order of removal. Each lid has its own marking (see figure 5.23). Marking of bearings of the left camshaft, starting from the front: E1-E5. Marking of bearings of the right camshaft, starting from the front: A1-A5.

16. Set the piston of the first cylinder to the TDC position.

17. Lock the intake camshaft 2. The piston of the first cylinder should be in the TDC position.

18. Install the exhaust camshaft pulley 6 with the timing chain fitted to it. Replace the pulley mounting bolts 9. Pay attention to the correct installation of guide pins 7.

19. Install the chain tensioner 10. Replace the seal 11.

20. Check the basic position of camshafts 1 and 2. If necessary, set the basic position of the camshafts after checking.

21. Install the cylinder head cover 4.

22. Install the injectors.

23. Start the engine and check for leaks in the fuel system. Read the fault memory and clear it.
