Removal



1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

2. Drain the coolant and engine oil.

3. Remove the cylinder head cover 1 (see figure 5.12 a).

4. Set the piston of the first cylinder to TDC.

5. Lock the flywheel with lock 2.

6. Remove the timing chain tensioner 3.

7. Remove fuel pump 4.

8. Remove the front cover 5 of the cylinder head.

9. Unscrew the bolt securing the air conditioning system pipes from the bracket on the pallet 22 (only on cars with air conditioning).

10. Unscrew the mounting bolts of the air conditioning compressor 6. Secure the compressor 6 to the side at the bottom of the engine compartment.



11. Unscrew the power steering pump mounting bolts 7.

12. Remove the cooling system pump 16.

13. Unscrew the generator mounting bolts 9 to the timing chain cover 17.

14. Remove the crankshaft groove pulley 18.

15. Unscrew bolts 10 securing the timing chain cover 17 to the pan. Loosen the remaining pan mounting bolts.

16. Unscrew the bolts securing the timing chain cover 17 to the cylinder head.

17. Remove the timing chain cover 17.

18. Remove the alternator drive belt tensioner (only if the timing chain cover is replaced).

19. Remove the oil filter (only if the timing chain cover is replaced).

20. Remove the oil cooler (only if the timing chain cover is replaced).

Installation



21. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. The timing chain cover mounting bolts are shown in the figure 5.12 b.
