Installing the rear brake disc (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 903)

0
If necessary, brake discs can be ground for subsequent use. The thickness of the front brake discs is the same on all models - 22 mm. The permissible wear is 19 mm. The thickness of the rear brake discs is not the same and depends on the model (this is related to both the diameter of the discs and the diameter of the brake cylinders). The minimum permissible wear values (mm) for different models are:
  • 208D and 212D - 10
  • 308D and 312D - 14
  • 412D — 19

The discs should be sanded evenly, keeping the surfaces parallel. If damage to the disk is detected in the installed state, its outer edge should be checked for runout using an indicator.

After installation, the disk must be checked for runout in any case. To do this, install the indicator with a suitable holder so that the pin of the device rests against the outer edge of the disk (figure 289), then slowly turn the disk. If the runout value exceeds 0.2 mm, remove the disc from the hub again and install it. Also check that the seat is clean. If the runout limit reappears, the disc should be replaced.

Press the brake pedal several times to allow the pads to contact the discs. Next, you need to follow the recommendations described in subsection. "Recommendations for the use of brake pads".
