Warning! Gasoline is extremely flammable and explosive, so care must be taken when working on any part of the fuel system.
Warning! The container in which the fuel was located contains fuel vapors and is potentially explosive.
Attention! Work on the fuel system must be carried out in a well-ventilated area, for which all windows and doors can be opened to create a draft.
Attention! When working on the fuel system, do not use open flames, electric welding, or tools that may generate sparks. Make sure there is a charged fire extinguisher in the immediate vicinity of the workplace.
Attention! Use goggles to protect your eyes from getting fuel in them. If fuel comes into contact with skin, wash the area with plenty of water.
Attention! Keep the fuel system clean as dirt entering the fuel system passages can block them and prevent the engine from running properly.
Removing
The fuel filter is installed in the fuel supply line and can be accessed from underneath the vehicle.
Unscrewing the screws securing the protective casing of the fuel filter
Arrangement of connecting bolts of fastening of fuel lines to the fuel filter
The location of the screw securing the belt holding the fuel pump
1. Relieve the pressure in the fuel system.
2. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
3. Raise the rear of the car and secure it on stands.
4. Unscrew the screws and remove the protective casing of the fuel pump, fuel filter and pressure accumulator (see fig. Unscrewing the screws securing the protective casing of the fuel filter).
5. Using clamps, pinch the fuel hoses on both sides of the fuel pump.
6. Unscrew the connecting bolts securing the fuel hoses to the fuel pump and remove the hoses from the fuel pump (see fig. Arrangement of connecting bolts of fastening of fuel lines to the fuel filter). If the fuel hoses are connected to the fuel filter with bayonet clips, remove the clips from the fuel filter and remove the gaskets.
7. Unscrew the screw, remove the fastener and remove the fuel filter from the bracket (see fig. The location of the screw securing the belt holding the fuel pump). On later models, the bracket is secured with two screws that also secure the fuel pump.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following points.
2. The arrow on the fuel filter housing indicates the direction of fuel flow and must point towards the engine.
3. Check that the fuel filter mounting brackets are correctly placed on the anti-corrosion plastic insulating tube on the filter housing.
4. When using bayonet fittings, new seals must be installed.
5. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks from the fuel filter connections.
