Warning! Gasoline is extremely flammable and explosive, so care must be taken when working on any part of the fuel system.

Warning: The container that held the fuel contains fuel vapor and is potentially explosive.

Attention! Work on the fuel system must be carried out in a well-ventilated area, for which you can open all the windows and doors to create a draft.

Warning! When working on the fuel system, do not use open flames, electric welding or tools that may generate sparks. Make sure that a charged fire extinguisher is in the immediate vicinity of the work area.

Warning! Use goggles to protect your eyes from fuel getting into them. If fuel gets on your skin, rinse the area with plenty of water.

Caution! When working with the fuel system, keep it clean, as dirt that gets into the fuel system channels can block them, which will disrupt the normal operation of the engine.

Removal

The fuel filter is installed in the fuel supply line and can be accessed from underneath the vehicle.

1. Relieve pressure in the fuel system.

2. Remove the ground cable from the battery.

3. Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it on stands.

4. Unscrew the screws and remove the protective cover of the fuel pump, fuel filter and pressure accumulator (see fig. Unscrewing the screws securing the fuel filter protective cover).

5. Using clamps, pinch the fuel lines on both sides of the fuel pump.

6. Unscrew the connecting bolts securing the fuel hoses to the fuel pump and remove the hoses from the fuel pump (see Fig. Location of connecting bolts for fastening fuel lines to the fuel filter). If the fuel hoses are connected to the fuel filter using bayonet clamps, remove the clamps from the fuel filter and remove the sealing gaskets.

7. Loosen the screw, remove the fastener and remove the fuel filter from the bracket (see Fig. Location of the screw securing the belt holding the fuel pump). On later models, the bracket is secured with two screws that also secure the fuel pump.

Installation

1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following points.

2. The arrow on the fuel filter housing indicates the direction of fuel flow and should be directed towards the engine.

3. Check that the fuel filter mounting brackets are correctly positioned on the anti-corrosion plastic insulating tube on the filter housing.

4. When using bayonet connections, new sealing gaskets must be installed.

5. Start the engine and check that there are no fuel leaks from the fuel filter connections.
