1. On SOHC 6-cylinder models, relieve fuel system pressure.

2. Remove the ground cable from the battery.

3. Remove the air filter.

4. If equipped, unscrew the throttle linkage bracket on the air flow sensor and move it to the side.

5. Disconnect the return spring and linkage rod from the throttle body. If equipped, remove the vehicle speed control actuator linkage from the throttle lever.

6. Label and disconnect the vacuum hoses from the throttle body.

7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the throttle switch.

8. Unscrew the nuts securing the throttle body to the intake manifold.

9. Loosen the large clamp on the rubber tube connecting the throttle body and the air flow sensor (see Fig. Location of the large clamp securing the rubber tube connecting the throttle body and the air flow sensor).

10. On 6-cylinder SOHC engines, remove the fuel line from the intake manifold.

11. On other models, unscrew the two nuts securing the air flow sensor to the rubber elements. Unscrew the union nut securing the return hose at the rear of the pressure regulator.

12. Carefully lift the air flow sensor enough to allow removal of the throttle body.

13. Using a knife, cut and remove the center portion of the intake manifold gasket that mates with the throttle body.

Installation

Location of the center portion of the new intake manifold gasket that needs to be cut and installed…

1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following points (see Fig. Location of the center portion of the new intake manifold gasket, which must be cut out and installed onto the mating surface of the throttle body).

2. When replacing the throttle body, the throttle position switch must also be replaced.

3. Cut the center section out of the new intake manifold gasket and install it onto the mating surface of the throttle body.

4. Tighten the throttle body mounting nuts to the specified torque.

5. Check that the vacuum hoses are installed according to the previously made marks.

6. Check and adjust idle speed if necessary.
