Removing
The location of the large clamp of the rubber pipe connecting the throttle body and the air flow sensor
1. On models with 6-cylinder SOHC engines, relieve pressure in the fuel system.
2. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
3. Remove the air filter.
4. If present, unscrew the throttle linkage bracket on the air flow sensor and move it to the side.
5. Disconnect the return spring and link rod from the throttle body. If equipped, remove the vehicle speed control linkage from the throttle lever.
6. Mark and disconnect vacuum hoses from the throttle body.
7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the throttle switch.
8. Unscrew the nuts securing the throttle body to the intake manifold.
9. Loosen the large clamp on the rubber tube connecting the throttle body and the air flow sensor (see fig. The location of the large clamp of the rubber pipe connecting the throttle body and the air flow sensor).
10. On 6-cylinder SOHC engines, remove the fuel line from the intake manifold.
11. On other models, unscrew the two nuts securing the air flow sensor to the rubber elements. Loosen the union nut on the return hose at the rear of the pressure regulator.
12. Carefully lift the airflow sensor just enough to remove the throttle body.
13. Using a knife, cut and remove the center portion of the intake manifold gasket that mates with the throttle body.
Installation
Location of the center portion of the new intake manifold gasket to be cut and installed on the mating surface of the throttle body
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following points (see fig. Location of the center portion of the new intake manifold gasket to be cut and installed on the mating surface of the throttle body).
2. When replacing the throttle body, the throttle position switch must also be replaced.
3. From the new intake manifold gasket, cut out the center section and install it on the mating surface of the throttle body.
4. Tighten the throttle body mounting nuts to the required torque.
5. Check that the vacuum hoses are installed in accordance with the marks previously applied.
6. Check and, if necessary, adjust the idle speed.
