1. Relieve pressure in the fuel system.

2. Remove the ground cable from the battery.

3. Remove the air filter (see Fig. Location of fuel system components on a 6-cylinder engine).

4. While holding the fuel injectors with a wrench to prevent them from turning, unscrew the fuel lines from the fuel injectors, then unscrew the fuel lines from the fuel distributor (see Fig. Components of the fuel distributor and air flow sensor on a 4-cylinder engine, Location of screws securing the air flow sensor to the fuel distributor on a 6-cylinder engine).

5. On the fuel distributor, unscrew the fastening of the fuel lines, cold start valve, pressure regulator and fuel supply line.

6. Disconnect the multi-pin electrical connector on the wiring harness for the electro-hydraulic pressure regulator located on the side of the fuel distributor.

7. Unscrew the three screws securing the fuel distributor and, carefully and by turning it sideways, remove it from the air flow sensor. Remove the sealing ring.

Installation

1. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. When installing the fuel distributor, use a new sealing ring.

2. Start the engine and check for leaks around the components being removed. Check and, if necessary, adjust the idle speed and CO content in the exhaust gases.
