Removing
The location of the elements of the fuel system on a 6-cylinder engine (4-cylinder similar)
A - accelerator cable; B – air flow sensor; C - fuel distributor; D - fuel pressure regulator; E - idle speed regulator; F - cold start valve
Elements of the fuel distributor and air flow sensor on a 4-cylinder engine
1 – fuel distributor; 2 - sealing ring; 3 - screws
Location of screws securing the air flow sensor to the fuel distributor on a 6-cylinder engine
1. Relieve the pressure in the fuel system.
2. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
3. Remove the air filter (see fig. The location of the elements of the fuel system on a 6-cylinder engine).
4. While holding the fuel injectors with a wrench from turning, unscrew the fuel wires from the fuel injectors, then unscrew the fuel lines from the fuel distributor (see fig. Elements of the fuel distributor and air flow sensor on a 4-cylinder engine, Location of screws securing the air flow sensor to the fuel distributor on a 6-cylinder engine).
5. On the fuel distributor, unscrew the fastening of the fuel lines, cold start valve, pressure regulator and fuel supply line.
6. Disconnect the multi-pin electrical connector on the electro-hydraulic pressure regulator harness located on the side of the fuel rail.
7. Unscrew the three screws securing the fuel distributor and, being careful and turning it to the sides, remove it from the air flow sensor. Remove the sealing ring.
Installation
1. Installation is made in sequence, return to removal. When installing the fuel distributor, use a new O-ring.
2. Start the engine and check for leaks around the removed components. Check and, if necessary, adjust the idle speed and the CO content in the exhaust gases.
