Removing
1. Apply the parking brake, then raise the front of the vehicle and support it on stands.
2. Loosen the auxiliary drive belt and remove the drive belt from the power steering pump pulley after loosening the pulley mounting bolts.
3. To improve access to the power steering pump, remove the air intake hose.
4. After noting the location of the pulley, unscrew the bolts and remove the pulley from the power steering pump.
5. Wipe area around power steering pump connections and tag hydraulic lines and hoses.
6. Unscrew the union nuts and disconnect the hoses from the pump. Close the ends of the hoses and the openings in the pump with plugs.
7. If present, unscrew the bracket from the back of the pump.
8. Remove the mounting bolts and remove the power steering pump from the engine compartment.
9. If there is a malfunction of the pump, it must be repaired at a service station.
Installation
1. Install the power steering pump in place and secure it with bolts, tightening them to the required torque. If available, screw the bracket to the back of the pump.
2. Connect the hoses to the pump in accordance with the markings and secure them with connecting nuts.
3. In accordance with the previously made marking, install the pulley on the power steering pump and secure it with bolts, tightening them to the required torque.
4. Install the auxiliary drive belt on the power steering pump pulley and adjust its tension.
5. Fill the pump with fluid and bleed the air from the hydraulic system. On Station Wagon models with 6-cylinder petrol and turbocharged diesel engines, air must also be bled from the self-leveling rear suspension system.
