Preparation of engines for disassembly
It is recommended to disassemble the engine at the stand; if it is not available, you can place the engine on a sturdy workbench at a convenient height for work. If there is no workbench, then use a wooden shield or a tarp laid on the floor. Avoid working on a concrete floor due to possible sand ingress.
Pre-clean the engine with kerosene and dry it. As parts are removed, wash them in a kerosene bath. However, it is not recommended to immerse parts with oil channels in kerosene, because. this will make further cleaning difficult. Oil passages are best pre-purged with compressed air.
Recommended to have «type-setting cash desks» for small and fasteners, which will bring convenience when reassembling the engine and eliminate «superfluous» details. Reinstall removed bolts and washers if possible. Don't throw away the old gaskets, they will serve as templates for making new ones if you don't have the standard ones. Keep the old parts as samples for purchasing new ones.
