Removal, installation and adjusting the parking brake pads (Mercedes-Benz Vito W639)

2.12. Loosen the tension of the parking brake cables using the adjusting nut (21).

2.13. Remove the brake disc.

2.14. Remove the pressure springs (26).

2.15. Remove the lower tension spring (27).

2.16. Remove the brake shoes (24) with the clearance adjuster (18) and the upper tension spring (28).

2.17. Disconnect the lever (25) from the cable end that releases the brake shoes (22).

2.18. Assemble in reverse order.

2.19. Adjust the parking brake.

2.20. Unscrew one of the rear wheel mounting screws (if an alloy wheel is installed, the wheel should be removed) to provide access to the adjusting ratchet (18).

2.21. Using a thin screwdriver, turn the ratchet until the wheel locks. Then turn the ratchet 6 teeth in the opposite direction.

2.22. Install the removed parts.

2.23. Adjust the tension of the cables (22).

2.24. Full braking of the vehicle with the parking brake should be achieved by pressing the parking brake pedal 3-4 clicks of the lock. This is accomplished by rotating the cable tension adjusting nut.
