Checking and adjusting rear wheel alignment (Mercedes-Benz Vito W639)

0
Since the rear wheel suspension is independent, the rear wheel alignment angles should be checked.

There are two values related to the rear wheel alignment angles:
  • convergence angle;
  • camber angle.

Of these two values, only the wheel toe angle can be adjusted.

The toe-in adjustment is carried out by rotating the eccentric bolt (1) securing the inner silent block of the rear suspension arm. In this case, the rotation of the bolt moves the inner attachment point of the lever back and forth in the direction of the vehicle. This movement changes the toe angle of the rear wheel.

The rear wheel alignment is checked on an optical stand.

The table below shows the dependence of the rear wheel alignment on the longitudinal tilt angle of the vehicle platform. This dependence does not apply to vehicles with air suspension of the rear wheels, since when operating such a vehicle it is possible to regulate the level of the body in order to maintain it at a constant level.
