In addition to setting the steering wheel to the center position, check the steering gear installation using the marks (indicated by arrows in the figure VN 5,031).

Next, you should measure the longitudinal tilt angle of the vehicle platform (see above).
Before measuring the wheel alignment, the standard spacer bar should be installed at the front of the wheels in order to make all the wheel displacements that are possible due to the flexibility of the elastic elements of the suspension arm mounts.

The manufacturer's instructions contain recommendations for checking wheel alignment using specialized tools (optical) stands. Therefore, the data on wheel alignment are given in angular units.
Author's note: you can convert the toe value from angular to linear units (which is more common for mechanics in our country).
The linear characteristic of toe-in is the difference in the length of the measuring rod installed between the right and left wheels in sequence, first at the front of the wheels, then at the rear of the wheels (at the points of greatest tire width, at the same distance from the wheel center).
This measurement will give the overall wheel alignment value, whereas the optical stand measures the toe-in value per wheel.
Calculation formula:
A = 2*D*tga,
Where:
- A - total wheel alignment (mm);
- D - diameter of the circle on which the measuring rod installation points are located (mm);
- a - convergence angle (on one wheel).
Front wheel alignment of a vehicle depending on the longitudinal tilt of the vehicle platform
| Longitudinal tilt of the vehicle platform | Convergence (on one wheel) |
| + 11,2° | +0°17'(±5') |
| + 10,4° | +0°15'(±5') |
| +9,6° | +0°14'(+5') |
| +8,8° | +0°12'(+5') |
| +8,0° | +0°10'(±5') |
| +7,2° | +0°09'(±5') |
| +6,4° | +0°07'(±5') |
| +5,6° | +0°05'(+5') |
| +4,8° | +0°03'(±5') |
| +4,0° | +0°01'(±5') |
| +3,2° | -0°01'(±5') |
| +2,4° | -0°03'(±5') |
| +1,6° | -0°05'(+5') |
| +0,8° | -0°07'(±5') |
| +0,0° | -0°10'(±5') |
| -0,8° | -0°12'(+5') |
Notes
1. A positive toe-in value means that the distance between the front edges of the wheels is less than that between the rear edges. Negative is the opposite.
2. Permissible value of the difference in convergence (on one wheel) right and left wheels; 0°5'.
Adjustment of the toe-in is made by changing the length of the steering rods by screwing or unscrewing the threaded end of the rod from the steering rod tip.
The adjustment is fixed using a lock nut (tightening torque: 50 Nm).
