VN 5.030 1. Steering wheel lock; 2. Fastening the latch to the steering wheel
In addition to setting the steering wheel to the middle position, you should check the installation of the steering mechanism according to the marks (indicated by arrows in Fig. VN 5.031).

Next, you should measure the angle of the longitudinal inclination of the vehicle platform (see above).
Before measuring the toe-in, a standard spacer bar should be installed in the front of the wheels in order to make all the wheel displacements that are possible due to the compliance of the elastic fastening elements of the suspension arms.
VN 5.032 1. Spacer bar
The manufacturer's instructional materials contain recommendations for checking wheel alignment using specialized (optical) stands. Therefore, the data on the convergence of the wheels are given in angular units.
Compiler's note: you can convert the convergence value from angular to linear units (which is more common for mechanics in our country).
The linear toe-in characteristic is the difference in the length of the measuring rail installed between the right and left wheels in series, first at the front of the wheels, then at the rear of the wheels (at the points of the greatest width of the tires, at the same distance from the center of the wheel).
Such a measurement will give the value of the total convergence of the wheels, while the optical stand measures the value of the convergence per wheel.
Calculation formula:
A = 2*D*tga,
Where:
- A - total wheel alignment (mm);
- D - diameter of the circle on which the points of installation of the measuring rod are located (mm);
- a - convergence angle (on one wheel).

Notes
1. A positive toe value means that the distance between the front edges of the wheels is less than between the rear ones. Negative is the opposite.
2. Permissible value of the convergence difference (on one wheel) right and left wheels; 0°5'.
The toe-in is adjusted by changing the length of the tie rods by screwing in or out the threaded end of the tie rod from the tie rod end.
The adjustment is fixed with a lock nut (tightening torque: 50 Nm).
