Drive chain (Mercedes-Benz Vito W638)

Replacement



1. Remove the sliding lever 8 from the cylinder head (see figure 2.15).

6. Intake camshaft pulley,
7. Exhaust camshaft pulley,
8. Sliding lever,

2. Remove the spark plugs.

3. Secure the chain with stops 9 between the camshaft pulleys and the cylinder head.

4. Disconnect the chain link.

5. Connect the new chain 2 to the old chain 1 using the connector (see figure 2.16).

6. Remove the clamps 3 and the locking pin 7 (see figure 2.17). Make sure that the ends of the chain do not fall into the housing.

7. Turn the crankshaft slowly in the direction of engine rotation and install a new chain.

8. After installing the new chain, disconnect the old chain (see figure 2.18).

9. Using key 6, rotate camshafts 4 and 5 until it is possible to insert locking pin 7 (see figure 2.19). Lock camshafts 4 and 5 with locking pin 7.

10. Install the chain on the camshaft pulleys and insert a new connecting link 2 with a new intermediate plate 8 (see figure 2.20).

11. Insert the new plate 9 into the press (see figure 2.21).

12. Place the press 10 on the chain and press the plate as far as possible (see figure 2.22).

13. Check the correctness of the pressing (arrows) and press it in further if necessary (see figure 2.23).
