Clutch slippage (incomplete inclusion)
Clutch slippage is noticeable, first of all, when driving in high gear (when the engine produces its greatest power), under load the engine runs as if idling, i.e. the rotation speed clearly does not correspond to the speed of movement. When starting to move, slippage is less noticeable. The consequences of this may be wear not only of the driven disk, but also of the working surface of the pressure plate, as well as the flywheel. Therefore, when replacing the driven disk, it is often necessary to replace the clutch housing. To prevent this, the clutch should be checked regularly as described below.
A fully functional clutch should withstand the following test: apply the parking brake, engage 3rd gear, slowly release the clutch and press the accelerator pedal. The engine must stop (with a working parking brake).
The clutch does not disengage
If gear shifting is accompanied by noise, the clutch is not disengaging completely. First of all, you should check whether the mat has shifted, which in this case will interfere with the free movement of the pedal.
| Signs of malfunction | Method of elimination |
| Clutch slippage (incomplete inclusion) | |
| 1. The driven disk is slipping | Replace the slave disk |
| 2. Insufficient clamping force | Replace the pressure plate |
| 3. Oiling of the linings | Replace the driven disk, eliminate the leak |
| 4. The clutch is heating up | Replace the slave and possibly the pressure plate |
| 5. Leaks in the working cylinder | Replace the slave cylinder |
| The clutch does not disengage | |
| 1. Air in the hydraulic drive system | Bleed the clutch drive |
| 2. The slave or master cylinder is leaking | Replace the corresponding cylinder |
| 3. Warping of the driven disk | Replace the slave disk |
| 4. Friction lining failure | Replace the slave disk |
| 5. Jamming of the driven disk on the shaft | Disassemble and lubricate |
| 6. Sticking of flywheel linings | Engage 1st gear and press the clutch pedal. Tow the vehicle for a while with the engine stopped |
| The clutch engages jerkily | |
| 1. See "Oiling of linings" | |
| 2. Incorrect installation during repair | Check and fix |
| 3. Uneven pressure of the clutch release bearing | Check the clutch release fork |
| 4. Uneven pressure of the pressure plate | Replace the pressure plate |
| 5. The engine/gearbox is poorly secured | Fix the problem |
| The clutch does not disengage and slips | |
| 1. The pressure plate has failed | Replace disk |
| Extraneous noises in the clutch area | |
| 1. Runout of the pressure or driven disk | Replace disk |
| 2. The driven disk springs have weakened | Replace the slave disk |
| 3. The clutch release bearing has failed | Replace the bearing |
| 4. Loosening the friction lining rivets | Replace the slave disk |
