Clutch slip (incomplete inclusion)
Clutch slip is noticeable especially when driving in top gear (when the engine develops the most power), under load, the engine runs as if idling, i.e. rotational speed clearly does not correspond to the speed of movement. At the beginning of the movement slippage is less noticeable. The consequences of this may be the wear of not only the driven disk, but also the working surface of the pressure, as well as the flywheel. Therefore, when replacing the driven disk, it is often necessary to replace the clutch housing. To prevent this, the clutch should be checked regularly as described below.
A fully functional clutch must withstand the following test: apply the parking brake, engage 3rd gear, slowly release the clutch and depress the accelerator pedal. The engine must stop (with proper parking brake).
Clutch won't disengage
If the gear shift is noisy, the clutch will not disengage completely. First of all, you should check if the mat has moved, which in this case will interfere with the free movement of the pedal.
Symptoms | Remedy |
Clutch slip (incomplete inclusion)
1. The driven disk is slipping | Replace driven disk |
2. Insufficient downforce | Replace pressure plate |
3. Oiling linings | Replace drive disc, fix leak |
4. Clutch gets hot | Replace driven and possibly pressure plate |
5. Working cylinder leaks | Replace slave cylinder |
Clutch won't disengage
1. Air in the hydraulic drive system | Bleed clutch drive |
2. Flowing working or master cylinder | Replace the corresponding cylinder |
3. Warping of the driven disk | Replace driven disk |
4. Breakage of friction linings | Replace driven disk |
5. Jamming of the driven disk on the shaft | Disassemble and lubricate |
6. Sticking lining on the flywheel | Engage 1st gear and press the clutch pedal. Towing the car for a while with the engine stopped |
Clutch engages jerkily
1. See «Lining oiling» | |
2. Wrong installation when repairing | Check and fix |
3. Uneven clutch release bearing pressure | Check clutch release fork |
4. Uneven pressure plate pressure | Replace pressure plate |
5. Poorly fixed engine / gearbox | Troubleshoot |
Clutch won't disengage and slips
1. Pressure plate failed | Replace disk |
Extraneous noise in the clutch area
1. Beating pressure or driven disk | Replace disk |
2. Weakened driven disc springs | Replace driven disk |
3. Failed clutch release bearing | Replace bearing |
4. Loosening of friction lining rivets | Replace driven disk |
