The nuts and bolts used must be clean and lightly greased. Check the integrity of the faces of the nuts and thread pitches, remove the formed burrs. If in doubt, use new bolts and nuts. Self-locking nuts should not be reused, replace them with new ones after one use. Never remove grease from nuts and bolts.
When tightening threaded fasteners, always use the permissible tightening torques given in the special tables. They are grouped together in the guide application to make them easier to find.
All sealing washers, gaskets, locking plates and rings, cotter pins and cuffs must be replaced with new ones when assembling the unit. The sealing lips of the collars should be lightly lubricated with grease before they are installed on the shaft. When assembling, special attention should be paid to ensure that the sealing lips of the cuffs are directed in the direction from which grease or oil can escape.
All indications on the sides of the car (right, left, front and back) should be considered relative to the vehicle's forward motion. All doubtful cases are specified additionally in the text of this repair manual.

Special attention should be paid to the fact that when working under the car, care must be taken to install reliable stands under the raised car. Be sure to study subsection 1.5 before lifting the vehicle for repairs. The onboard jack in the car is provided only for changing wheels on the road. For repair purposes, it can only be used for «jacking» during the installation of the car on the appropriate stands. Special tripod supports, such as those in fig. 2, with a height locking pin made of durable material capable of supporting the vehicle, must be installed under the vehicle for safety purposes even when a garage jack is used to raise the vehicle. In no case should bricks be used as supports, in some cases wall hollow blocks can be used due to their larger supporting surface, but in this case, a thick board should be additionally placed between the car and the block.
Greases, oils, underbody mastics and other mineral substances have an aggressive effect on all rubber parts of the running gear and brake system of the vehicle. You should especially be careful not to get the listed substances and fuel on the parts of the hydraulic systems of the car. Use brake fluid or alcohol to clean parts of the brake system. But we must remember that the brake fluid is very toxic and can corrode paintwork.
An important condition for a successful repair is the use of original spare parts. To exclude possible subsequent complications during the operation of the car, do not resort to installing spare parts from unknown manufacturers. An exception may be electrical parts and non-original parts approved for installation by the vehicle manufacturer.
When placing an order for spare parts, it is imperative to indicate the exact model designation of the vehicle with the VIN code, and, if possible, the engine number, as well as the year of manufacture of the vehicle. This information will speed up the execution of your order and eliminate the supply of unnecessary parts.
All work on the vehicle, and especially on its brake system, steering and suspension, must be carried out with the utmost care and thoroughness. After each repair, the absolute safety of the vehicle and traffic must be ensured.
