- place the rear of the car on supports;
- turn the wheel on the desired side;
- loosen the equalizer mount as described above, relieving the tension on the cables;
- remove the end of the replacement cable from the equalizer;
- remove the cable from the fastenings;
- remove the rear brake disc and disconnect the cable from the brake pad drive lever;
- when replacing the cable, we recommend checking the condition of the parking brake shoes. If the linings are in good condition, apply lubricant to the required points of the mechanism.
Installation must be carried out in reverse order. After installation, adjust the cables. Also check the parking brake shoe adjustments and readjust if necessary. If the pads have been replaced, they must be run in before use. At a speed of about 80 km/h, lift the parking brake lever by one tooth, but for no longer than 10 seconds. Then lower the lever again. After stopping the vehicle, check the operation of the parking brake and the free play of the wheels 2–3 times after lowering the lever.
