- place the rear of the vehicle on supports and loosen the cables in the equalizer;

- insert a screwdriver into the hole of the wheel bolt, having first unscrewed it (figure 295), and turn the adjusting gear until the wheel locks. Then from this position move the gear back 5 teeth so that the wheel rotates freely again;
- raise the parking brake lever several times. After adjustment, check that when the cable is released, the shoes converge as they should and unlock the drum. Otherwise, repeat the adjustment;
- screw the wheel bolt back in;
- after installing the parking brake pads, they must be run in as described in in the next subsection.
