Pic. 299. Replacing the front parking brake cable: 1 - front cable; 2 - parking brake lever; 3 - cable laying in the cabin floor; 4 - equalizer; 5 - fixing clips
The front cable attachment is shown in fig. 299. It is attached between the parking brake lever and equalizer on the underside of the vehicle. When replacing, proceed as described below, however, it should be noted that the service center uses a special tool to remove the retaining ring:
Pic. 296. Parking brake equalizer
- loosen the four bolts securing the equalizer to the bottom of the car (see fig. 296) and move the entire lever forward;
- remove the cable fixed on the equalizer from the lever;
- remove the fixing clip from the front cable attachment axis and remove the axis;
- cut the fastening tape holding the cable;
- remove the fixing clips on the cable guides from the transverse beams;
- remove the clamp from the end of the cable where it passes in the floor of the car and pull the cable down;
- remove the cable retaining ring (the previously mentioned special tool 901 589 00 63 00 is used for this) and pull the hose forward;
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Finally, adjust the parking brake as described earlier.
