Removing
1. Turn off the ignition.
2. Release the parking brake.
3. Remove the rear of the center console, see relevant chapter.
4. Place the vehicle on jack stands.
Attention! There is a risk of injury when the vehicle is jacked up or placed on jack stands. Familiarize yourself with the provisions of the chapter «car jacking».
5. Remove the underbody protection, see relevant chapter.
6. Loosen the locknut 1, unscrew the equalizer 2 on the tip of the parking brake cables and disconnect the right rear wheel parking brake cable from the equalizer (see illustration 8.4)
7. Remove the clip (cotter pin) on the compensator bolt 4 and disconnect the parking brake cable of the rear left wheel (see illustration 8.4).
8. Remove the front parking brake cable from the parking brake lever bracket.
9. Squeeze the plastic leashes of the cable sheath and release the drive cable from its mounting near the hole in the bottom.
10. Pull the front drive cable through the hole in the bottom.
Installation
11. Insert the front drive cable into the hole in the bottom and fix it. Make sure the fixation is secure.
12. Attach the front cable carrier to the parking brake lever bracket, paying attention to the correct location of the cable.
13. Bolt the rear left wheel parking brake cable to the front cable and secure the bolt with a cotter pin. The cotter pin is installed over the bolt and must go into the grooves of the compensator.
14. Attach the rear right wheel parking brake cable to the equalizer.
15. Adjust the parking brake, see relevant chapter.
16. Install the underbody protection, see relevant chapter.
17. Lower the car on wheels.
18. Reinstall the rear of the center console, see relevant chapter.
19. Check the operation of the parking brake.
