Removal
1. Turn off the ignition.
2. Release the parking brake.
3. Remove the rear part of the center console, see the relevant chapter.
4. Place the vehicle on jack stands.
Warning! Jacking up the vehicle and placing it on stands may pose a risk of injury. Read the provisions of Chapter "Jacking up a car".
5. Remove the underbody protection of the car, see the relevant chapter.
6. Loosen the tightening of lock nut 1, unscrew equalizer 2 on the end of the parking brake drive cables and disconnect the right rear wheel parking brake drive cable from the equalizer (see illustration 8.4)
7. Remove the clamp (split pin) on the compensator bolt 4 and disconnect the rear left wheel parking brake drive cable (see illustration 8.4).
8. Remove the front parking brake cable from the parking brake lever bracket.
9. Squeeze the plastic cable sheath leashes and release the drive cable from the mount near the hole in the bottom.
10. Pull the front drive cable out through the hole in the bottom.
Installation
11. Insert the front drive cable into the hole in the bottom and secure it. Make sure it is securely secured.
12. Secure the front cable leash to the parking brake lever bracket, making sure the cable is positioned correctly.
13. Fasten the rear left wheel parking brake cable to the front cable with a bolt and secure the bolt with a cotter pin. The cotter pin is installed over the bolt and should fit into the grooves of the compensator.
14. Attach the rear right wheel parking brake cable to the equalizer.
15. Adjust the parking brake, see the relevant chapter.
16. Install the underbody protection of the car, see the relevant chapter.
17. Lower the car onto its wheels.
18. Reinstall the rear section of the center console, see the relevant chapter.
19. Check the operation of the parking brake.
