Parking Brake Cable Drive Design (2 of 2)
11 — Fixators
1. Remove the parking brake release lever cover (5).
2. Remove the center console and its left side trim panel (see Chapter Body).
3. Loosen the adjusting nuts (38).
4. Remove the parking brake shoes (see Section Replacing the parking brake shoes).
5. Loosen the drive cable fixing fastener (2) to the carrier plate (1).
6. Release the clamps (a) securing the cables (2) to the bottom of the vehicle.
7. Release the cables (2) from the bushing (3) in the bottom.
8. Release the cables (2) from the support bracket (4).
9. Carefully wipe all components and visually assess their condition. Replace if necessary.
10. Installation is carried out in the reverse order - pay attention to the difference in the length of the cables. In order to facilitate the passage of the cables (2) through the holes in the bushing (3), lubricate them with a soap solution. Lubricate the threaded part of the fasteners of the cable fastening clamps to the bottom with an anti-corrosion compound.
11. Finally, adjust the parking brake drive (see Section Adjusting the parking brake drive).
