1. Check the brake light switch, see the relevant chapter.
The brake light switch is located above the brake pedal on its bracket (see illustration 15.3).
Removal
2. Turn off the ignition.
3. Disconnect plug 1 from brake light switch 2 (see illustration).
4. Squeeze the retainer leash 1, turn the switch to the right and remove it from the mount (see illustration).
Installation
5. Pull out the pusher 2 of the new brake light switch until it stops. This will be the maximum stroke "a" of the pusher (see illustration 15.4).
6. Press the brake pedal all the way down. Insert the switch into place and screw it in until it is secured with the lock 1 (see illustration 15.4).
7. Release the brake pedal. The switch plunger will self-align.
8. Connect the brake light switch plug.
9. Make sure that the brake lights come on even when you press the brake pedal slightly.
