Oil and oil filter change (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210)

0
When changing the oil, you must change the oil filter. Install only the filter that matches your car's engine!

Warning! Hot oil can cause burns. When unscrewing the drain plug, do not pull it out abruptly to avoid getting hot oil coming out under pressure on your fingers

Sequence of works

"15,000 km 12 months."

1. Stop the engine and let it cool for 10 minutes.

2. Place chocks under the vehicle wheels.

3. Place a container to collect the oil under the plug.

4. Unscrew the oil filter cover using the SW36 wrench.

8. Unscrew the oil drain plug (Fig. 4.38).

9. Drain the oil completely into a container. If the car was jacked up only at the front, lower it to drain the remaining oil. An open oil filler neck will speed up the draining process.

10. Clean and check the oil drain plug and sealing washer thoroughly.

11. After the oil has completely drained, screw the drain plug back in (with a new sealing washer if necessary) and tighten it to a torque of 25 N·m.

12. Lower the vehicle.

13. Insert the new filter into the housing.

14. Screw on the cover with a new gasket and tighten it.

15. Fill with oil (Fig. 4.39).

16. Run the engine for a short time until the oil pressure warning light goes out - this means that the oil has filled the filter and is flowing through the line.

17. Stop the engine and wait 5 minutes until the oil drains into the crankcase.

18. Check the oil level.

19. Check if oil is leaking from under the filter or from under the drain plug.

20. Replace the crankcase guard.
