Checking the tightness of the oil system (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210)

0
During operation, small oil stains may appear on the engine surface. Motor oil penetrates through the pores of the gaskets with large temperature fluctuations, but the appearance of oil puddles requires special attention. This indicates serious problems that must be eliminated immediately.

Possible leak locations:

1. Crankshaft oil seals: front and rear.

2. Timing mechanism cover.

3. Control chain tensioner fixing bolt.

4. Cylinder head cover.

5. Cylinder head gasket.

6. Oil filter housing.

7. Crankcase gasket.

1. Remove the crankcase guard.

2. Inspect the engine from top to bottom. All engines have a tendency to "oil sweat".

3. Look for large oil leaks on the engine or oil puddles under the car after parking.

4. Wash the engine thoroughly using a steam cleaner and appropriate detergents.

5. Take a test drive.
