Mercedes E-Class Maintenance Schedule (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210)

0
Contents: Warranty Period Limitations ↡ HHT Vehicle Electronic Testing Device ↡ Maintenance plan ↡
The following maintenance intervals apply to the E-Class model: oil change and service – every 15,000 km or annually; maintenance – every 30,000 km or every two years. When drawing up such a regime, the requirements of environmental safety and reduction of operating costs were taken into account first and foremost.

The main goal of the development was to comply with environmental standards and reduce waste volumes, without compromising the safety and reliability of the vehicle.

For example, the idle speed does not require checking, there is no need to change the oil in the gearbox, or check the wear of the clutch parts. There is no need to check the oil level in the manual and automatic gearboxes and the rear axle, since oil is not consumed in these units. It is enough to visually check for oil leaks from these units. The replaceable air filter element is subject to replacement only after 90,000 km or every four years. There is no need to adjust the parking brake due to the installed automatic equalizer of its drive cables.

The maintenance plan below may seem too long and laborious at first. After one or two checks, you will understand that most of the plan items are carried out by simple operations. Make a copy of the plan so that you can cross off the completed items. At the top of the plan there is a list of works under the heading "Regular checks". These works should be carried out regularly by each driver. In addition, their implementation will not take much time.

Warranty Period Limitations

For a new vehicle that has been in operation for less than one year, as well as for a new engine installed as a replacement, the manufacturer requires that maintenance at a specialized Mercedes station be carried out on time. Otherwise, claims during the warranty period may be rejected. In addition, the four-year mileage guarantee from Mercedes will only be valid if all work specified in the service book is carried out on time.

HHT Vehicle Electronic Testing Device

Tester HNT (Hand-Held-Tester) allows you to quickly and accurately detect and check faults in electronic systems. The E-Class model has a large number of such systems with diagnostic capabilities - from ABS to climate control. The controller of each system is connected to the diagnostic connector located in the engine compartment. Using the device at a service station, diagnostics can be carried out when faults are detected, during repairs, when handing over the car to the owner or during test drives. Pressing a button activates the test program, which is recorded in a replaceable test module. Faults in a particular electronic system detected during an express test can then be analyzed in detail during detailed diagnostic tests. The cause of the fault is displayed on the device display.

The controllers of electronic systems can also read the faults that occurred during operation, but do not appear outwardly at the time of inspection at the maintenance station. In this way, it is possible to obtain information about hidden defects. The memory also stores the operating mode of the engine or car when a particular fault was recorded. If the fault occurs again, the electronic devices record the technical data at the first and last occurrence, and also take into account the frequency of repetition.

The controllers are equipped with emergency programs that allow the system to operate even if, for example, one sensor fails. Some of these electronic systems function so smoothly that the driver may not even notice the malfunction.
