M123 engine
1. If the engine has not yet been removed from the vehicle, the cylinder head does not need to be removed, although the camshaft sprocket should still be removed. First, remove the springs from the cam followers and use the lever to lower each valve in turn so as to remove the cam follower, turning the engine crankshaft so that the top of the cam lobe is pointing up.
2. Remove the thrust washer from the front end of the camshaft.
3. Using a hex socket wrench, remove the bolt and remove the bearing supports with the shaft, as well as the oil pipe from the cylinder head. If necessary, loosen the supports with a wooden mallet.
4. Remove the camshaft by sliding it back from the supports and, if necessary, unscrew the oil tube bolts.

2. Turn away bolts of fastening of the case of a camshaft and a head of cylinders in sequence, reverse to that shown in drawing, and remove the case from a head of cylinders. Do not remove the seven bolts marked with arrows.
3. Turn out bolts of back covers from the case.
4. Remove the thrust washers from the front of the camshafts.
5. Take out camshafts from the case.
