Engine M123
1. If the engine is still in the car, there is no need to remove the cylinder head, although the camshaft sprocket should still be removed. First, remove the springs from the cam followers and lever down each valve in turn to remove the cam follower, turning the engine crankshaft so that the top of the cam lobe points upward.
2. Remove the thrust washer from the front end of the camshaft.
3. Using a hexagonal socket wrench, loosen the bolt and remove the bearing supports together with the shaft, as well as the oil pipe from the cylinder head. If necessary, loosen the supports with a wooden hammer.
4. Remove the camshaft by sliding it back from the supports and, if necessary, unscrew the oil pipe bolts.

1. If the engine is still in the car, the cylinder head does not need to be removed, but the cam followers and sprockets must be removed. If only the right camshaft needs to be removed, the left cam follower can be left on the front of the camshaft.
2. Loosen the camshaft housing and cylinder head mounting bolts in the reverse order to that shown in the figure, and remove the housing from the cylinder head. Do not remove the seven bolts indicated by the arrows.
3. Remove the rear cover bolts from the housing.
4. Remove the thrust washers from the front of the camshafts.
5. Remove the camshafts from the housing.
6. Remove the bearings from the front housing.
