VN 4.037 Mounting the final drive gearbox of the rear axle:
1. Rear traverse for fastening the gearbox; 2. Screw fastening the traverse to the body; 3. Screw for fastening the gearbox to the traverse; 4, Front torque rod; 5. Bandage for fastening the front rod to the gearbox M14 x 1.5 x 50 mm; 6. Washer; 7. Washer; 8. Vibration absorber; 9. Screw M6 x 35mm
VN 4.038 1. Cardan shaft; 2. Reducer of the main transfer; 3. Ventilation hose; 4. screw fastening the traverse to the gearbox; 5. Front gear mounting bar; 6. Rear wheel drive shafts
1. Remove the rear suspension spring
2 Disconnect the cardan shaft (1) from the final drive gearbox of the rear axle and, moving it to the side, fasten it to the lower part of the body. Drain the oil from the final drive.
3. Support the body with a jack and a special traverse (2) main gear reducer.
4. Disconnect the ventilation hose from the body (3) reducer.
Mark body position (2) gearbox before removing the screws (4).
5. Remove the screws (4).
6. Loosen the front tie rod bolt (5) reducer. Mark the position of the torque arm. If the gearbox is to be replaced, remove the torque rod (5) fully.
7. Lower final drive (2) and pull back slightly. Do not lower the gearbox too low, as this can damage the differential bearings and anthers of the inner CV joints.
8. Remove the tips of the inner CV joints of the drive shafts (6) from the final drive gearbox. Install the protective plugs in place of the removed drive shafts
9. If the gearbox is to be replaced, remove the yoke supporting the gearbox.
Install in reverse order.
The scheme of tightening the screw for fastening the front rod to the gearbox: 50 Nm + 90°.
Tightening torque of the crosshead-to-body screw: 25 Nm.
