1. The installation details of the rear drive shaft flange and radial thrust hub bearing are shown in the illustration to which all references in the text refer.

2. Remove the rear drive shaft (37) (see Section Removal and installation drive shafts).

3. Without disconnecting the hose, remove the rear brake caliper (111) (see Chapter Brake and auxiliary systems).

4. Remove the brake disc (112b) (see Chapter Brake and auxiliary systems).

5. Remove the parking brake shoes (see Chapter Brake and auxiliary systems).

6. Using a hydraulic extractor, remove the rear drive shaft flange (10) from the hub assembly remaining on the vehicle.

Note: If the force of 40 Nm is not enough to remove the shaft, it is necessary to remove the hub assembly and repeat the procedure in stationary conditions.


7. Using special pliers, remove the retaining ring (9).

8. If necessary, remove the brake shield (112c).

9. Using a special puller, press out the double-row radial thrust bearing (8) from the hub assembly.



10. Press the inner bearing race out of the drive shaft flange.

11. Assess the values of transverse and radial clearances of the flange (10), replace if necessary.

12. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
