Measuring the piston protrusion above the parting plane of a new cylinder block (Mercedes-Benz Vito W639)

After replacing the pistons, connecting rods and machining the upper surface of the cylinder block, the amount of piston protrusion above the cylinder block should be measured. Depending on this value, the cylinder head gasket is selected.

The measurement of the piston protrusion above the parting plane of the new cylinder block is made at the points indicated by the arrows in the figure VN 2.090.
