1. On models with code ET2, activate the service mode of the TELE AID emergency call system (see Section Activation/deactivation of the service mode of the TELE AID emergency call system).

2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

3. Jack up the car and place it on supports.

4. Remove the crankcase guard.

5. Turn the cooling system cover to the first stop to release the residual pressure in the cooling system.

6. Drain the cooling system (see Chapter Routine care and maintenance).

7. Remove the auxiliary heater (see Section Removal and installation the circulation pump of the additional heater STH (with appropriate equipment)).

8. Remove the air distributor (see Chapter Fuel and exhaust systems).

9. Release the connector (1) from the spring clip (2), then remove the cover (3).

10. In order to release the heater wiring harness (4), release the bandage (5) and remove the clamp (6) from the support bracket (7) - the bandage must be replaced without fail.



11. Remove the heater assembly (8) - prepare a replacement sealing ring.

12. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

13. If necessary, add fresh fluid to the power steering reservoir and bleed the hydraulic circuit of the power steering.

14. Remove air from the cooling system tract (see Chapter Routine care and maintenance) and check the relevant components for signs of developing leaks.

15. On models with code ET2, deactivate the service mode of the TELE AID system (see Section Activation/deactivation of the service mode of the TELE AID emergency call system).

16. Finally, clear the memory of the on-board diagnostic system processor (see Chapter Engine electrical systems).
