The passive safety system is designed to save the life and health of people in the car at the time of the collision.
For this, seat belts and special devices are used - airbags.
The essence of the operation of airbags is the instant, occurring at a precisely defined moment, filling the airbags with non-flammable and non-toxic gas. Airbags dampen inertial forces acting on the most vulnerable parts of the body.
Attention. The airbag system is an additional system to the seat belts. If seat belts are not fastened during an accident, injuries sustained by vehicle occupants when the airbags are deployed can be no less severe than when the airbags were not deployed.
Be aware of the features of airbags.
In order to save a person's life, an instant, almost explosive filling of pillow shells is used. This action, designed for a certain position of the body and occurring only in an emergency, can cause serious injuries to a person, up to death, if not triggered in time.
Therefore, the compilers recommend that car owners do not engage in self-repair of the passive safety system.
The information given in this section is intended to provide an understanding of the structure and operation of the system, as well as to ensure that it is possible to safely carry out maintenance work on the components and systems associated with the described system.
We recommend that you do not make any independent interventions in the operation of a complex and finely tuned system. We recommend that all diagnostic and repair work be carried out in a network of branded service stations by specially trained personnel.
Depending on the equipment variant, the vehicle may be equipped with the following devices.
- Seat belt pretensioner (further - UPN) driver, actuated by a squib (R12/1).
- OPN of a seat belt of the forward passenger (R12/2).
- Airbag, front passenger, actuated by a squib (R12/4).
- Airbag for the driver, actuated by a squib (A45/1r1).
- Left and right airbags protecting the head of the driver and front passenger from side impact damage (R12/16) And (R12/17), respectively (for vehicles with PR number (SH9).
- Left and right thorax airbags for driver and front passenger (R12/32) And (R12/33), respectively (for vehicles with PR number (SH7). These cushions are located in the backs of the seats.
All airbags are labeled with the SRS AIRBAG logo, either on the device itself or at the location where it is installed.
Passive safety devices include control switches that inform about the fact that the seat belt is fastened. These switches are located in the belt buckles (S68/1) And (S68/2), respectively. There is also a sensor on the front passenger seat (B48) the presence of a passenger (airbags are automatically activated and ready to be activated) or the presence of a child seat (airbags are automatically deactivated).
This sensor is not available if the front double seat is installed (PR numbers S23 or SH4).
When the airbag is deactivated, the Airbag OFF indicator light turns on (N72/1e1).
In the event of a severe frontal impact, an acceleration signal is generated by the SRS integrated in the control unit (N2/1O) front acceleration sensor. In this case, the control unit generates a signal for the activation of the airbags and the UPN of the seat belts.
In the event of a rear impact or a not too strong frontal impact, only the UPN are activated.
Activation of all side airbags (head and chest) based on the signal from the side collision sensors (A53 - left) And (A54 - right).
When the airbags and OPN are activated, the SRS control unit (N2/10) issues a signal about the accident to the following devices.
- Through the multiplex network (CAN-B) to the electronic ignition control unit EIS (EZS) (N73), and from there the signal is transmitted through the multiplex network (CAN-C) to the CDI control unit (N3/9) to turn off the engine.
- Through the multiplex network (CAN-B) to the front door electronic control units (N69/1) And (N69/2) for emergency opening of doors.
- To the SAM control unit (N10) to activate the alarm system. In this case, the alarm can be turned off using the alarm switch (N72/1s6).
