Checking valve lift (Mercedes-Benz Vario 814)

1. Rotate the crankshaft until the piston of the cylinder being tested is set to the ignition position (TDC). Rocker arms 1 should overlap, both pushrods can rotate, and there is a gap between the valve and the valve (figure 3.10).

2. Adjust valve clearances A.

3. Fasten the holder 4 with the pointer indicator 5 to the spring retainer 6 of the exhaust valve or the bridge rocker arm 7 of the intake valve.

4. Set the indicator arrow to the "0" position.

5. Rotate the crankshaft in the direction of rotation and measure the valve lift B. Compare the obtained data with the specifications.

Valve lift:

• engines up to number 026066 - 9.7 mm.
• engines starting from number 026067 - 10.7mm.
