Checking the valve timing

1. Check the camshaft codes. The camshaft code is stamped on the journal of the 3rd bearing and on the camshaft flange.

2. Install the cam of cylinder 1 or 6 with the working projection upward so that it does not press on the hydraulic compensator.

3. Install the retainer (02) with the threaded sleeve (04) on the contact surface of the cylinder head of the camshaft being checked.

4. Install the digital instrument (01) with the feeler gauge (03) (80 mm) on the retainer (02) on the left side of the camshaft being checked. Install the feeler gauge with a preload of 3 mm and at an angle of 90° to the hydraulic compensator.

5. Rotate the crankshaft with a key in the direction of rotation until the digital instrument shows a valve lift of 2 mm. In this position, check the opening phase of the valve being tested on the crankshaft pulley and compare with the data in the table below.
