1. Raise the hood and position it vertically.

2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

3. Drain the coolant.

4. Remove the generator drive belt.

5. On the left cylinder head: unscrew the bolts. Disconnect the support plate together with the power steering pump (11) from the tensioner and secure it to the side with the pipes attached.

6. On the right cylinder head: unscrew the generator from the bracket and secure it to the side with the wires attached.

7. Remove the cylinder head covers.

8. Remove the front timing belt cover.

9. Bring the engine to a position 45° before TDC of the piston of the first cylinder.

10. Mark the relative positions of the camshaft sprockets and the timing chain.

11. Remove the timing chain tensioner.

12. Remove the upper guide arms.

13. Loosen the exhaust camshaft sprockets and camshaft adjusters before removal.

14. Remove the intake manifold.

15. On the left cylinder head: Disconnect the coolant hose at the rear of the cylinder head.

16. On the right cylinder head: unscrew the guide pipe of the AT fluid level indicator.

17. Unscrew the exhaust system from the exhaust manifolds.

18. Disconnect the exhaust system from the bracket on the AT.

19. On the right cylinder head: unscrew the wiring from the bottom right.

20. Before removing the cylinder head, unscrew the bolts with washers (a), (b), (c), (d), (e), (f).

23. Attach a lifting chain to the lifting eyes, lift the cylinder heads and remove them from the engine.

24. Check the contact surfaces of the cylinder heads.

25. Replace the cylinder head gaskets. Check the mounting bolts and replace them if necessary.

Installation



Installation


Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the bolts with washers to 25 Nm once when the intake manifold is already installed. The tightening order of the cylinder head mounting bolts is shown in the illustration.
