Removal

1. Bring the engine to a position 45° before TDC of the piston of the first cylinder.
2. Lock the camshafts using the rods (01).
3. On the left cylinder head, unscrew the bolts (1), (1a) and (2). Fasten the support plate with the power steering pump (11) and the connected pipes to the side.
4. Remove the front covers (30) and (30a).
5. Mark the relative positions of the sprockets (31), (32), (33) and (34) of the camshafts and the timing chain (arrows).
6. Remove the timing chain tensioner (6).
7. Remove the camshaft adjusters (32), (33) and the exhaust camshaft sprockets (31) and (34).
8. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
9. Loosen the tray mounting bolts and lower it.
10. Remove the cooling system pump (3).
11. Unscrew the plug (35) with the sealing ring (36).
12. Using a puller (02) and a threaded insert (03), remove the pin (37) of the timing chain tensioner lever.
13. Remove the tension lever (38).
14. Remove the timing chain cover mounting bolts (a), (b), (d) and (e).
15. Remove the front crankshaft oil seal (15).
16. Remove the oil pump (25).
17. Remove the bolts (f), (g) and (h) securing the timing chain cover (9).
18. Remove the timing chain cover (9).

Installation
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Wipe the sealing surfaces and lubricate them with sealant 002 989 47 20 10. Replace the sealing rings (23) and (24), lubricate the gaskets with engine oil. Replace the front crankshaft oil seal.
