Attention! When installing the timing chain cover, use sealant, a new gasket, and a new coolant pipe O-ring. It is also advisable to replace the front camshaft sealing ring.
Removing
Unscrewing the central bolt (1) for removing the distributor rotor drive (2)
1. Remove the cylinder head cover.
2. Press fixing brackets and remove a casing of the distributor of ignition. Remove the central high-voltage wire from the ignition distributor cover, unscrew the three screws, remove the distributor cover and move it to the side without disconnecting the remaining high-voltage wires from it.
3. Partially drain the coolant from the cooling system.
4. Disconnect the coolant supply hose to the heater from the front side of the cylinder head.
5. Unscrew bolts and remove a pipe of giving of a cooling liquid from the water pump.
6. Unscrew the three screws and remove the distributor rotor.
7. Unscrew the central bolt and remove the distributor rotor drive (see fig. Unscrewing the central bolt to remove the distributor rotor drive). Remove the plastic shroud from the front and top of the drive chain cover.
8. Unscrew bolts of fastening of the top cover of a driving chain and remove a cover. The upper cover of the drive chain is installed with sealant on the guide pins.
9. Remove the gasket from the groove in the top of the lower drive chain cover.
Installation
Sealing locations (arrows) before installing a new gasket (1) on the lower cover of the drive chain
1. Clean the mating surfaces of the drive chain cover and cylinder head of sealant residue.
2. Replace the camshaft seal in the upper timing chain cover.
3. Using a screwdriver blade, remove the old O-ring from the upper timing chain cover.
4. Clean the O-ring seat. Install a new o-ring into the seat so that the end surface of the o-ring is flush with the surface of the timing chain cover.
5. To protect the working edges of the new sealing ring from damage during its installation, wrap the end of the camshaft with adhesive tape.
6. Apply a layer of sealant to the junction of the upper part of the lower timing chain cover with the cylinder head (see fig. Places to apply sealant before installing a new gasket on the lower drive chain cover). Install a new gasket into the groove at the top of the lower drive chain cover.
7. Apply a thin layer of sealant to the mating surfaces of the cylinder head and upper timing chain cover.
8. Lubricate the sealing lips of the camshaft seal with clean engine oil and install the upper timing chain cover. Fasten the cover with bolts, tightening them to the required torque.
9. Remove the adhesive tape from the end of the camshaft.
10. If equipped, install the front and top shrouds to the timing chain cover. Install the distributor rotor drive. In this case, the protrusion on the camshaft must fit into the groove in the drive sleeve. Screw in the central bolt of the distributor rotor drive and tighten it to the required torque.
11. Install the distributor rotor and secure it with screws.
12. Install a new O-ring to the coolant supply pipe, install the pipe to the water pump and secure with bolts.
13. Put the coolant hose on the pipe.
14. Establish a cover of the distributor of ignition and connect to it the central high-voltage wire.
15. Install the cylinder head cover.
16. Pour coolant into the cooling system.
