Caution: When installing the tensioner cap nut, a new sealing ring must be used.

1. Remove the ground cable from the battery.
2. Open the hood and place it in a vertical position.
3. On the right front side of the engine, unscrew the cap nut and remove the spring and sealing ring (see fig. Drive chain tensioning mechanism).
4. Using a socket wrench, unscrew the threaded ring and remove the tensioner housing.
5. Remove the plunger with the bracket from the housing (see fig. Direction of removing the plunger with the bracket from the housing of the drive chain tensioning mechanism).
Examination
1. Clean the drive chain tensioner components and check the plunger and housing for wear.
2. Check the condition of the tensioner bracket and spring and replace them if necessary.
Installation
1. Install the tensioner housing into the drive chain cover and secure it with the threaded ring, tightening it to the required torque.
2. Install the plunger with the bracket into the tension mechanism housing until the bracket rests against the flange in the tension mechanism housing.
3. Install the spring and screw on the cap nut with a new sealing ring and tighten it to the specified torque.
4. Connect the ground wire to the battery.
