Drive chain guide
Removing
The location of the fastening brackets connecting the outer and inner parts of the chain guide
1. Set the piston of the first cylinder to top dead center and check that all the alignment marks are aligned with the pointers.
2. Remove the lower drive chain cover.
3. Using paint, apply alignment marks to the drive chain and camshaft sprocket.
4. Using a screwdriver blade, release the mounting brackets and remove the outer part of the chain guide (see fig. The location of the fastening brackets connecting the outer and inner parts of the chain guide).
5. Move the drive chain forward as far as possible and remove the inner part of the damper from the retainers on the cylinder block.
Examination
1. Check the condition of the damper and the fastening brackets of the outer and inner parts of the damper and, if necessary, replace the damper assembly.
Installation
1. Pull the drive chain forward as far as possible and install the inner part of the damper on the retainers in the cylinder block.
2. Install the chain on the inner part of the damper, install the outer part of the damper and secure with brackets.
3. Install the camshaft sprocket.
4. Install the lower drive chain cover.
Drive chain tensioner shoe
Removing
Removing the tensioner shoe
After applying alignment marks to the chain and crankshaft sprocket (arrows) remove the tensioner shoe (1).
1. Set the piston of the first cylinder to top dead center and check that all the alignment marks are aligned with the pointers.
2. Remove the lower drive chain cover.
3. Using paint, apply alignment marks to the drive chain link and crankshaft sprocket.
4. Rotate the drive chain tensioner shoe and remove it from the pivot pin (see fig. Removing the tensioner shoe).
Installation
1. Install the tensioner shoe on the pivot pin.
2. Check that timing marks are aligned with pointers.
3. Check alignment of marks on drive chain link and crankshaft sprocket.
4. Install the lower drive chain cover.
