On a diesel engine, the thermostat in a housing is attached to a fitting on the underside of the coolant pump, as shown in fig. 139. The thermostat is removed as follows:
- drain the coolant as described above;
- unscrew the clamp of the cooling system hose;
- unscrew two bolts;
- remove the hose, unscrew the thermostat housing from the pump and remove it;
- remove the thermostat from the housing. At the same time, pay attention to its position, which must be maintained during subsequent assembly.
Assembly is carried out in the reverse order. The gasket must be replaced.
