Removal and installation the radiator (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 903)

To remove the radiator, it is necessary to disassemble almost the entire front of the car. According to the company's recommendations, the pressure in the built-in air conditioner must be reduced for this to happen. Since this cannot be done with improvised means, the following description applies only to cars without air conditioning. When removing the radiator, the following operations must be performed:

• remove the negative terminal from the battery, observing all safety precautions;
• drain the coolant, taking all precautions as described in subsection 4.1.1;
• on models with automatic transmission, pinch both hoses going to the transmission oil cooler and disconnect them from the radiator. At the same time, watch for oil leaks;
• remove the radiator grille and free access to the radiator from the front;
• disconnect the upper and lower hoses from the radiator;
• unscrew the radiator fasteners and remove it upwards. At the bottom of the radiator there are two guide pins that fit into the corresponding holes at the bottom of the support part;
• assembly is carried out in reverse order. Make sure that the mounting pins fit precisely into the holes in the supporting part. Tighten the drain plug on the cylinder block to 30 Nm, and the plug at the bottom of the radiator to 1.5 Nm;
• on models with automatic transmission reconnect the hoses and tighten the mounting nuts to 25 Nm;
• fill with coolant as described in subsection 4.1. If new liquid is added, prepare a new solution. Add transmission oil if necessary.
