Antifreeze for radiator (Mercedes-Benz C-Class W202)

0
The cooling system is filled with a mixture of water, antifreeze and anticorrosive agent. This mixture prevents damage due to freezing and corrosion, the formation of limescale deposits and also slightly increases the boiling point of the coolant. Due to the screw cap on the expansion tank, an excess pressure of about 1.4 bar is created inside the cooling circuit of a warm engine, which also contributes to an increase in the boiling point of the coolant. An increased boiling point of the coolant is required for the normal functioning of the engine cooling system. If the boiling point of the liquid is too low, this can lead to thermal back-up, which disrupts the circulation of the coolant and reduces engine cooling. Therefore, the cooling system must be filled with a mixture of cooling concentrates throughout the year.

Caution! Use only coolant concentrates approved for Mercedes vehicles.

Since the anti-corrosion component in the coolant loses its effectiveness after some time, the coolant should be replaced every 3 years.

Attention! If the antifreeze content in the coolant exceeds 55% (corresponds to protection up to –45°C), then the frost protection is reduced and the heat dissipation by the cooling system is impaired.
