You can check the operation of the thermostat with a conventional thermometer. Hanging the thermostat as shown in fig. 148, lower it into a vessel of water and heat the water. At about 85°C, the thermostat should begin to open. When the water boils, the valve should open completely (minimum clearance 8 mm).
Before filling the coolant, check the tightness of the hose and the fastening of the clamp. Fill with coolant (see subsection 4.1.1).
