Hose ruptures often occur on the road, so there is a need to quickly fix the problem. If the break in the hose is large, you can unscrew the expansion tank or radiator cap one turn to relieve pressure in the system. By constantly monitoring the temperature and level of coolant, you can get to the nearest service center.
When replacing the system hoses, the following operations must be performed:
- drain the coolant as described above;
- for screw clamps, loosen the clamping screw well; for spring clamps, squeeze both ends until they stop;
- pull off the hose. If it is firmly held, carefully use a screwdriver to press the hose away from the fitting;
- install a new hose onto the fitting. Use screw clamps to secure the hose, but do not overtighten the clamp screw to avoid damaging the threads and the clamp cutting into the hose;
- if the hose has a special metal clamp, check its sealing ring. When installing, simply press the locking device until the clamp snaps into place.
