Hose breaks often happen on the road, so it becomes necessary to quickly fix the problem. If the gap in the hose is large, you can unscrew the cap of the expansion tank or radiator one turn to relieve pressure in the system. Constantly monitoring the temperature and coolant level, you can get to the nearest service.
When replacing system hoses, the following operations must be performed:
- drain the coolant as described above;
- for screw clamps, loosen the clamping screw properly, for spring clamps, compress both ends to the stop;
- pull off the hose. If it is held firmly, gently wring the hose from the fitting with a screwdriver;
- install a new hose on the fitting. Use screw clamps for fastening, but do not overtighten the clamping screw so as not to damage the threads and the clamp does not cut into the hose;
- if the hose has a special metal clamp, check its o-ring. When installing, simply press the locking device until the clip clicks into place on its own.
